I was inspired by the song Road Rage by the band Catatonia and maybe even the sketches on Toothpaste for Dinner to come up with this. It's not very good but hey, it's inspired enough...lol....oh hell. (0) comments Yay Redmeat!!! (0) comments It's GREEEEAAAAATTT! I went on a spree yesterday at a neighbourhood mall, Jurong Point, with a friend of mine and well, we were surprised with the number of deals and steals we were able to make. Look at this, a bright pink PVC handbag from South Korea that would normally be sold at 16 bucks in town, being sold at 7 for cost price, not to mention cotton tops at 10 and lovely canvas handbags all under 20. For those of you who shop frequently enough and see the ridiculous prices these things normally go at will agree with me that you would also have been in retail heaven had you been in my shoes. The highlight of the entire ordeal would have been at Jennyfer, a French brand with only one outlet in Singapore and that only in Jurong Point. A whole bunch of stuff in bins going at 5 and 9 dollars with my friend buying a really nice sporty khaki-coloured cottony dress, unique as it even had a hoody for rainy days (lol). Then random tops and bottoms and dress with up 50% off. Now, Jennyfer is a decent enough, affordable brand for college girls like us, who have no other means of an income except pocket money from our dear folks, but seriously, yay for discounts! :D For those who know me quite well, know also how much I don't really fancy shopping as such, but to see all the great stuff just being sold at the prices one would have to wait all year to go down to...I just could not help myself but spree!!! Now, maybe, next year, when I do get a job in the summer, I may be able to just spree some more in the Great Singapore Sale! :D (0) comments (0) comments Now the problem with embarking on projects like writing a novel which I have as of today (it's titled "the shortest novel...ever") is the lack of ideas and subject matter. Not that my mind is barren of any thought as such but I haven't engaged in any form of creative writing other than perhaps blogging since I left high school. Even in my final year of high school, any bit of writing I did do was merely for completion as I had *cough cough* other priorities. Ultimately, the biggest advice there is out there is to write from personal experience, not to fear being autobiographical and to embrace inner thoughts and feelings and putting them down on paper. That is difficult given that my life is 1) complicated, 2) complicated and 3) not something I should write about because it's inconclusive mostly. Yes, the idea would be to embrace all of it as inspiration and conjure up a fictitious story and perhaps write something I have always wanted to read. I don't know whether it's me but that just sounds even more complicated than writing about life as it is. Ultimately, discipline is seen to be the ultimate virtue to be having embarking on a project like this. I came across a site which claims to give you a guideline to write a novel in just 100 days! That's just even more daunting. Giving yourself a deadline, like everything else in the real world. Whatever it is, it has to come naturally and it has to be nothing less than brilliant, regardless of whether I want to publish it or not. It's time to embrace the fact that creativity doesn't exactly come easy under pressure. But having no pressure merely means that nothing is ever going to get done or written. Ultimately, I am aiming for completion and also, the piece of work to be presentable to potential readers. And I am hoping I haven't lost any bit of writing skill I had from writing before. >.< (0) comments French Guard I'm French! Why do think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king-a?! What Monty Python Character are you? brought to you by Quizilla Yay for quizzes!! :D (0) comments On other news, my dog, the english springer spaniel named Simmi is looking more and more like a sheep these days prompting repeated bleatings towards her general direction by family members. There is also the theory on how she's the real human in the house and we are her dogs but I will save that one for some other time. (0) comments Had the internet down since friday and boy, I just got it up now. Never should this happen again, I was going cold turkey, life felt empty, and I swear I needed therapy but was getting by with too much TV and eating, and TV. On the bright side, I managed to spend more time with family (mostly my mom) which is good...always good...I think. I did manage to read some stuff...finish books I had been meaning to and re-reading some: 1. Reread Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix again 2. Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coelho 3. and currently finishing American Gods by Neil Gaiman. and watch some movies I had been meaning to namely: 1. Kill Bill Vol. 1 2. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (today) Actually, I haven't done much have I? Geez, and to think not having any internet would give me a life. Bollocks. (0) comments Anyways, my joblessness turned out to be a blessing when I realised what shite temp jobs there are out there. I am sure people familiar with the term "Direct Sales" would agree. I experienced a typical day out as a Direct Salesperson, better know as Sales executive, Sales Assistant, Sales Relations etc, as part of this company's one day training. And boy, was it an eye-opener or what. The objective: to sell cheapo China made "educational toys" at S$29.90. 1. Alot of waiting ~ we had to wait to be transported, we had to wait for people we were working with, we had to wait for our fellow people to finish their breaks, we had to wait for particular timings best to strike the market out there. 2. Alot of sweating ~ carrying the stuff you're selling, walking about town in the hot sun trying to save bus fare the entire day. 3. Alot of talking ~ You have to explain and explain your product, persuade persuade the customers...a very dry throat at the end of it. 3. Alot of rejection ~ I am not even going to elaborate on this one. 4. Alot of misfortune ~ according to one of the experienced people, "The job is about turning the negative into positive" Oh dear. I quit even before joining only to find a job selling restaurant coupons cum lucky draw tickets for a car. I quit that today by simply not selling any because over the past two days, I only sold four and spent wayy more than I earned. I was very annoyed to hear that most of the boys selling did loads better than all the girls. Hmmmm, an interesting phenomena there. I'll be retaining the random beauty survey job though, I mean $2 per successful survey, that's brilliant, if I get loads of women to fill them. Oh well. Money money money, not so easy to come by. "It's all about selling yourself" quipped my trainer for direct sales. I think I will probably have better luck in prostitution. The verdict out of all the jobs I have scouted thus far for the holidays, regardless of whether I got them would be tutoring kids. After that, some research program dealing with my major or internships and lastly, maybe some administrative jobs with decent flexible hours. All this without taking the pay into consideration. On another note, I Want You (She's so heavy)- Abbey Road, Beatles is a song that's just driving me mad at the moment. :) (0) comments |
